We got off the Magic Kingdom Ferry. Immediately greeted by the sights and sounds that reminded us of Disneyland. We were home! As we walked to Magic Kingdom Main Street USA. We were so excited. The castle was beautiful and the magic was there.
Immediately we headed to Pirates of the Caribbean. Which is one of our all-time favorite rides in Disneyland. It is usually one of the first rides we ride when we arrive at the park. It’s a romantic ride that my husband and I have always enjoyed together.
We enter the stand-by line to Pirates of the Caribbean in Disney World. We of course notice that it looks a lot different. Different isn’t bad we were surprised.
In Disneyland, you wait outside. As you enter the ride and wait to get on the boat. You are greeted by the smell of Pirates of the Caribbean and the talking pirate parrot.
As you make your way around the line in Disneyland you immediately are inside of the magic! Off to the right side, you have the Blue Bayou restaurant. This is a magical place to eat dinner. You are surrounded by and in an immersive Bayou feel.
As you get onto the boat ride you ride thru the Bayou. It is part of the magic of the ride. This adds 2 1/2 minutes to the beginning of the ride with an added drop. This gives you a total of 2 drops in the Disneyland version.
As we started sailing we start to notice yet again that we were missing an ENTIRE 1 1/2 minutes of the ride in Disney World. We immediately start asking where is the pirate bed that has a real human skull in Disneyland. My husband also notices that the iconic piano that plays by itself is missing from Magic Kingdom.
As we enter the boat fight scene it is cut AGAIN by 1/2 minute. Disneyland’s version also has more detail in this scene. As you continue around the corner you are missing more and more detail that is in the Disneyland ride.
As you come around the corner and see the iconic pirates trying to get the key from the dog. You know… the one we all know and love. We once again are disappointed in Disney World. Because again it has cut the ride short by 1 1/2 minutes.
We see Jack Sparrow and are excited to see that he is still there. But once again have the ride cut short another 1 1/2 min once again.
As we got off the ride my youngest daughter says well that sucked! We were so sad that our favorite family ride was missing so much. How could that even be possible?! We thought Disney World was supposed to be bigger and better.
The Disney World ride is a whole 7 1/2 min shorter. Is that not sad?
With all the space, Disney World has why would you make an iconic ride like Pirates of the Caribbean smaller? Wouldn’t you make it either the same or better?? If Walt Disney had been alive it would have most definitely been a better ride. The total ride at Disneyland is 15 1/2 minutes Disney World is a total of 8 minutes.
So which is better?? Well of course you all know the answer… Disneyland!
If you don’t believe me that’s ok… I found a link that proves it all!
