Disneyland
Disney World

Disneyland? or Disney World?

Is one better than the other?

My family and I recently moved to the Orlando FL area. Coming from Anaheim, California, and being a pass holder in Disneyland. Of course one of the first things we did was buy Disney World Passes. If you know our family at all you know that Disney is our middle name. When people ask us what do you like to do our immediate response is anything Disney related!

Living only 2 blocks from Disneyland while living in California. We went 145 times in our first year. So it would be safe to say that we know Disneyland like the back of our hands. I can tell you how to get around, where to eat, and when to ride a ride.

We were sad to leave California but of course excited for our new adventure in the Orlando, Florida area. Being first-time home buyers we decided to buy our dream home with a lake view. Our plan is to set down roots here! Part of that is getting to know Disney World as well as we did Disneyland.

After only living here a day the first thing we did was buy Disney World Passes! Within a week we were at Disney World. While we were at Disney Hollywood Studios. We started becoming a bit homesick for Disneyland. Not that Hollywood Studios wasn’t fun we were missing “Home”. After all, our girls have grown up in Disneyland. Every corner of that place holds a special memory.

On our last day at Disneyland, my husband and I walked hand in hand and teary-eyed out of Disneyland. It’s been our “Home” for years. It might sound silly to most but that is our family’s “Happy Place!” Disneyland is where milestones are celebrated. Where we gathered for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. It’s where we go when the family is in town. It’s part of what makes it magical.

After 4 hours in Hollywood Studios we decided it was time to head to Magic Kingdom. The closest thing to “home” that we could encounter.

We parked in the parking lot which is huge! Hopped on the tram. When we got to the entrance we saw the 3 options to get into Magic Kingdom. The Bus, Monorail, or Ferry. We of course took the ferry. It was magical looking out over the lake and seeing all the lights. Then we saw the castle in the Distance. It was a magical moment for all us. I have to say entering the park that way was the most magical way I have ever entered any Disney Park. We loved it!

As we got out of the park and immediately entered Magic Kingdom. It felt like “Home”. The smell of the scenery and then of course we saw Disney Main Street USA! No matter if you are at Disneyland or Disney World, Main Street is the same. The sounds smell and of course the castle. Cinderella’s castle is bigger I have to say but both are beautiful!

I have decided to tell you all about my immediate reaction to each park. I’ll do little compare and contrasting between the 2 parks. I’ll let you know what rides are better and where. I’ll explain how they differ! Having said that if you are a true Disney fan you can’t go wrong visiting either place. I thought I would give you my thoughts on both.

I have been asked a lot since my move which Disney park is my favorite. I have split them into 6 different parks. Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios.

So to answer the question. Which park is my favorite? I have to say that my all-time favorite park out of all 6 is Disneyland. You just can’t beat it. There is so much to do in that park you need at least 3 days to see everything! I guess will see if I change my mind over time! But, here we go!
