I haven’t been on Disney World’s version of Haunted Mansion in almost 18 years. But my love for this ride started on my first visit to Disney World. I love ghosts and I’m not a fan of gore or scary. So the Haunted Mansion is the perfect Haunted House for me. With its 999 Happy Haunts, it’s a spooky perfection. I love the theme song and the singing headstone not to mention the gorgeous ballroom scene. Heck, I even like that you go 6 feet under in the ride. It’s one of the best rides in the park if you ask me!
Waiting in line for this ride was like being a kid again. I could not wait to see the Disney World version once again. Since it was the first ride I ever rode in at any Disney Park!
The Disneyland version of the outside is a cool-looking old mansion. This fits into New Orleans Square. It doesn’t look spooky at first glance. It’s more of a very pretty-looking Southern Home. The line to get into the ride isn’t all that It is a line but the ride is in and of itself. But once you are inside the ride the spookiness begins. You’ll see the stretching pictures you enter a hallway with a bit of thunder as well. This part of the wait line is super cool. The pictures move and there is lightning while you wait. It’s super fun!
Disneyland’s version also changes for the Holidays! It becomes home to the infamous Jack Skellington. The Pumpkin King Decks the Halls to look like Nightmare Before Christmas. You’ll also get to see his Halloween Town friends. It is super fun to see how Jack deck’s the halls of the Haunted Mansion for Christmas. If you are a fan of the cartoon I promise you will want to ride this. I love this about the Disneyland Version!
Disney World….. is amazing on the outside. The way they have it on a hill and the building itself is perfection. The wait line is also a ton of fun. You have things that interact with you. This makes waiting a lot more fun. Not to mention there is a small splash pad for any aged kiddos to cool off while waiting in the Florida sun. Hands down Disney World’s outside of the mansion is beyond cooler than Disneyland.
Now let’s talk about the Florida version. It is the same with the stretching picture and the classic thunderclap. But, as you enter to wait once more for your doon buggy you don’t have as much to look at. hat Not to worry. This is because in Disney World it is part of the ride! It is a spooky cool upgrade! I love how they made it part of the ride into you walking thru like you do in Disneyland. One of the most amazing parts of the Disney World version is the room with the staircases! It’s like you are in a real mansion. In some ways, it reminded me of Harry Potter. I was in love with this ride once again after getting off of it.

The question we’ve been waiting to answer. Is Disneyland or Disney World’s version of Haunted Mansion better?
This ride is almost a tie. With Disneyland’s changing for the Holidays it makes it a much tougher decision.
But we are only talking about Haunted Mansion the classic version. So… I would have to say that Haunted Mansion in Disney World is better and my personal favorite. But not by much guys! So you can’t go wrong either way!
